How do you add split parts at a later stage, if the total area of the field does not add up to total area of the field?

Go to one of the existing parts and edit it (you do not need to actually change anything) to bring up the save button which you should accept. You will then be prompted with a message that tells you that the total of all the splits do not add up to the total OS area and you will be given the chance to finish setting up the parts.
