Unlike a batch, animals cannot belong to more than one herd; herds are created to group animals more permanently. i.e. an animal may be part of a herd all its life, while at the same time it may be included in several different groups for various treatments, services, feedings etc.
N.B. An animal can be included in more than one herd during its lifetime, provided it is removed from the first before being included in the next. If an animal is to be selected for a new herd it will automatically be removed from the one it is currently in.
Setting up a Herd
- Choose 'Herds' from the Setup drop down menu and then click on 'New' on the data entry window toolbar. Alternatively choose 'Other' in the List Bar, then 'Herds' and click on 'New' on the main screen toolbar.

- Click on the 'Select Animals ' button and choose the animals to be included.

- Click on the 'OK' button.
