Planned Sales & Movements

Planned Sales and Movements in Cattle Manager allow you to create a Sale or Movement prior to the event, and enabling you to produce a Market or Transport Declaration in advance. The program will also warn you if an animal is under a withdrawal period for a treatment.

Once the actual event has taken place, the Planned Sale / Movement can be edited to update the Statutory Movement Book and create a BCMS Notification if necessary.

The results that can be recorded for a Sale are:

  • Taken to sale (or market) and sold, i.e. no longer in your ownership.
  • Taken to sale and returned as unsold. This records two movements one there and one back.
  • Not taken to sale (due to injury, medication, etc.)

Planned Movement should be used if you are planning to move the animals to a different location but still own the animal i.e. moving animals to grass keep.

The results that can be recorded for a Movement are:

  • Moved: This will automatically generate a movement.
  • Not Moved: This will exclude the animal from the movement.

Once the Planned Sale or Movement has been edited, all movement reports will be updated and the movements will show to be included in a Notification.

Entering a Planned Sale / Movement:

  • Open the 'Planned Sales' or 'Planned Movement' page and click 'New' at the top.
  • Fill in the date, time and buyer details for the forthcoming sale, then click 'Select Animals'.
  • Use the menu on the left to narrow down the search on the animals you are going to sell. Tick the animals to be sold.
  • Click OK, then check the details are correct before you 'Save'.

To Update a Planned Sale / Movement:

Once the sale/movement has occurred, it can be updated so that the correct details are taken through to the Movement Book and BCMS Notifications.

  • Open the 'Planned Sales' or 'Planned Movement' page and double click the entry that needs to be updated.
  • You will see the same screen as before, but now the 'Post Sale Update' or 'Post Movement Update' button will be highlighted to click.
  • Click the first animal to highlight it, then enter the Action by clicking the drop down arrow.
  • If you choose 'Taken to sale and sold', you will be able to enter the lot number, price and weight; otherwise you will just be able to enter the lot number. For a Movement, the options are 'Moved' or 'Not Moved'.
  • Click 'Update' when you are satisfied with the details entered for that animal. Click on the next animal in the list and repeat the action and update until all of the animals are done.
  • The 'Save' button will be highlighted to click.
  • Close out of the 'Sale' or 'Movement' page.
