Entering a 'leaver' and their P45 details

To enter an employee that is leaving the company:

  • Open the Employee menu
  • Take the option P45 routines
  • Select the employee
  • Enter their leaving date
  • Click the 'Print' button. Do not forget to print the P45 before you leave this screen as you will not be offered the opportunity later.

If you do forget to print it or you have entered the wrong employee, you can use the option to 'Restore P45'ed Employees'. You can also use this option if an employee returns to your employment within the current tax year and they have not worked anywhere else or claimed any benefits (if they have, they should be entered as if they were a new employee).

You may wish to submit the P45 details of the leaver to HMRC automatically via the Government Gateway. To do this you must have registered with HMRC (the same details as you use at the year end) and configured on-line services (found in the File Menu) to say that you wish to 'Enable In-Year Movements'.
