The Quick Calculators allow you to make independent calculations of Income Tax, National Insurance, Statutory Sick Pay and Loan Repayments without running a whole payroll run. It is not even necessary to have the employee set up yet on Earnie, for example you may wish to check the P45 details of a new employee.
- Select Tools
- Choose the option 'Quick Calculators'.
Tax
- If you wish to check that the Tax for a particular employee is correct, enter their pay period plus tax code.
- If they are on a cumulative tax code enter their gross taxable pay to date i.e. so far this year.
- If they are on a 'Week 1/Month 1' basis, make sure that you enter the week or month number as '1'.
National Insurance
- To check the National Insurance of an employee you should enter the week number as '1' for weekly paid employees, '2' for fortnightly, etc. not the current week number as National Insurance is calculated on each payroll run in isolation. (The only time you should enter the current week or month number is when the employee is a director as their National Insurance is calculated cumulatively.)
