Overview
When setting up your enterprises you will need to decide whether you wish to use enterprise valuations.
Valuation Type?
These are pre-set and like the Farm Categories and Enterprise Types define how the valuation changes are treated on the 'industry standard' reports.
The Valuation Types available are dependent on the Enterprise Type already selected. Each enterprise will have at least one of each appropriate type and these pre-set stocks may not be deleted. They may, however be renamed - or ignored if not required.
Important Note
The Farm Categories, Enterprise Types and Valuation Types all have important implications within data entry. The combination must be logical in order for the right heading codes and stocks to be presented. For example you may set up a stock of straw with a valuation type of 'by-product', so it may not be sold using a sales code with a farm category of 'main crop produce'. Similarly dairy cows set up as 'breeding stock' may only be sold using a heading code with a farm category of 'breeding disposals'.
Setting up an Enterprise Valuation
Go into Set Up - Enterprises - Set up Enterprise. Select the correct harvest year at the top of the screen and then, on the left hand side, double click on the category (purple arrow), Group (green arrow) and finally Enterprise (brown arrow) to get to the valuation level for the chosen enterprise. On the right hand side, click under the Valuation Type column to select the correct type.
Auto-Adjust
If there is a tick in this box, the quantities in stock will be adjusted automatically whenever they are used in data entry. e.g. if you enter the quantity on the sales invoice when you sell some wheat, the program will remove it from the quantity in stock and adjust the closing valuation accordingly.
During data entry you will be asked to assign the item to a stock (sub-code) from the drop down list.
