Products are set up in a three tier hierachy: Category, Group and Variety. This structure provides a great deal of flexibility both in data entry and for reporting whilst being easily maintained.
The top level is the Product Category. This is the broadest grouping, for example cereals, vegetables, root crops, contracting.
The next level is the Product Group. For example the Product Category of 'Root Crops' may then be subdivided into groups of Potatoes, Swedes and Parsnips and the Category of 'Contracting' may include groups called Cultivations and Harvesting.
The third and final level is the Variety - this level is optional and may be ignored if not relevant.
The example below is using all three levels for a flower company.

To set up new Categories, Groups or Varieties
- Click into Setup,
- Click Product Types
- Click New under the level that you want to create another heading
