THERE'S NO ACCOUNTING FOR IT
Thanks to a project initiated by Anglia Farmers, First4Farming and Farmplan, farmers can now receive invoices on-line and transfer the information into their own Farmplan software at the touch of a button.
The system has been successfully trialled and is being launched at Cereals 2008 where visitors to Anglia Farmers (stand no. 402) and Farmplan (stand no. 270) can see the programme in action.
Called AFO-IMS (Anglia Farmers Online - Invoice Management System), it has been designed to streamline office accounting procedures, reduce paper use and postage costs.
Alex Morton, commercial projects co-ordinator at Anglia Farmers, said:
"The benefits of receiving one monthly invoice from Anglia Farmers are well recognised. However, details from the individual supplier invoices that come with it have, until now, still had to be keyed into members' own accounting software. With AFO-IMS all of these issues are resolved."
| |
|
| |
AFO-IMS benefits include:
Web site facility:
- Online - Access to invoices online from any computer with dial up or broadband
- Reduce paper - Eliminates the need for original supplier invoices from Anglia Farmers which then have to be filed
- Multiple accounts – members are able to access multiple accounts with one login
- Multiple users – unlimited number of users can login to view invoices
- Function - Ability to split the original invoice into a multiple of 10 lines
- Business flexibility - several statuses, ‘new’, ‘checked’, ‘in dispute’ and ‘approved’ are included to allow flexibility within each business
Farmplan ‘Business Manager’ accounts software
- Reduce manual entry - Allows members to import suppliers invoice data directly from the website application, once approved, into Business Manager; thus reducing the need to enter this information manually
- Flexible data import – ability to select additional data that the member would like imported into Business Manager depending on their business requirement
- ‘Remember facility’ - Once the codes from the website have been matched to the relevant code in Farmplan Business Manager; Business Manager remembers this information for the future and the next time the same code is imported it is automatically
assigned to the correct code

Spring 2008
SPS Press Release
Online submission of SP5 forms launched
The Rural Payments Agency will be accepting electronic submission of the Single Payment forms via the Government Gateway in 2008.
The Farmplan Single Payment Scheme (SPS) Planner software, which helps users identify Land Use Codes and calculates Eligible Area and Area claimed for Protein, Energy, Nuts and HFA, now enables users to submit their forms online and obtain an immediate submission receipt. This means that, for forms submitted before the deadline, the user can be confident RPA has received them on time.
“Farmplan is one of only two suppliers working with RPA to enhance existing software to enable customers to submit their SP5 Single Payment Scheme application electronically for the 2008 scheme year. In order to ensure the smooth running of the process, a limited number of online submission licences are being made available for the first year, 2008.” Hugh Taylor, Chief Operating Officer, RPA.
The SPS Planner software has been used by Lilburn Estates and Whitbread Farms amongst hundreds of other farm businesses for many years. One of its key benefits is that it can help improve the accuracy of returns and minimise errors.
“This new enhancement will be a valuable addition for many farms. Claimants could significantly reduce their work load using this electronic channel” commented Neil Unitt, Managing Director, Farmplan.
